In 2023, Ben saw the annual call from the Boardroom Show event looking for entries for their annual Best in Show. This year's design was to build your take on the famous Bonzer design created by the Malcom Brothers.  The entrants had to build a start-to-finish Bonzer, their creative take on this revolutionary design.  

Working off a few design drawings, photos, and written information on the design, Ben went off and built a design that was an homage to the original bonzer concept. Using a beaked nose and retro-inspired rails to provide more thickness throughout the body, on the bottom, he gave it a deep single concave channel leading out into a deep double concave channel out the back. Handmade bonzer fins with a modern designed bonzer fin were glassed onto the board. The color concept used colors that showed a true level of craftsmanship. White is a difficult surface to maintain a crisp, clean look to, while black shows the quality of your sanding skills while providing a beautiful contrast.

Once the board was complete, Ben had to put his hard work on display. Available for viewing during the show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds as well as being scrutinized by the very creators of this design, the Campbell Brothers themselves.
